Let us explore the aspirations and promises that scaffold architectural projects, as well as their ghostly presence in the city—emerging through the suspension of their realisation. During the creative workshops, we will speculate on what it means to live within (un)finished visions and collectively imagine new ways of inhabiting them.

Speculating on the semi-dormant construction site of the Lithuanian National Stadium and its surrounding urban territory, participants will delve into the contradictions that have emerged over the years. An ambitious, nationally significant project—developed over nearly four decades, built four times and demolished three—remains in a state of suspension. Having weathered various systemic political and economic changes, it has become a legend of the city, revealing the dramaturgy of urban processes and the tensions—both personal and collective—that shape them. But maybe this time, the promise will become reality?

By excavating the project’s archaeology and tracing its ghostly footprints, participants will employ principles of artistic research to analyse the conditions of postponement and create spatial and sonic gestures that embody the state of waiting. Using experimental storytelling methods, they will explore how the condition of urban suspension can not only generate frustration, but also become a point of departure for fundamentally rethinking and reshaping the principles of city-making.

The workshop will take place on June 18–19 and will be held in English. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. You can register by following this link by June 12.
