Experiment
Weaving into
For a few lives I kept thinking – it had long been time to take a step back. Or maybe two. To see more clearly how far we’ve drifted. We live on a worn-out earth, withdrawn so far that it almost feels as if it is no longer what keeps us alive.
The experiment will be an attempt to approach it through another body. I am not interested in space for humans, but in space where humans are not the only participants. Willow weaving becomes a way of exploring the relationship between place and material. The willow has its own direction, flexibility, and limits, which means the process is not only about shaping, but also about adapting. I want to see how space changes when it is understood not as a fixed object, but as a living process shaped by time, weather, other organisms, and the place itself. Can we learn from the more-than-human world not by copying its forms, but by taking in its ways of working? Adaptation, growing with the environment, becoming part of it. Creating the conditions for relationships to re-emerge.
